The Panelists

National Federation of Handlooms and Handicrafts (NFHH) is a first of its kind coming together of handloom weavers and handicrafts manufacturers. They have been working with handloom weavers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana since 1988 as ‘Rashtra Chenetha Jana Samakhya.’ In 2017 they extended nationwide efforts and included handicrafts. NFHH has constituent groups in 12 states of India. The aim of the federation is to bring together diverse practitioners to discuss the various dimensions of the craft sector.

The Agroecology Fund (AEF) is a multi-donor fund supporting agroecological practices and policies. The Fund aims to support viable food systems, promote the economic well-being and human rights of small farmers and their communities, and mitigate climate change through low input agriculture featuring sustainable soil and water use. It links organizations and movements that advance agroecological solutions locally, regionally and globally.

The National Coalition for Natural Farming is a response to the multiple crises the country is going through – farmers’ distress, climate change emergency, malnutrition, consumer health, land degradation and loss of biodiversity. The Covid19 pandemic has powerfully brought home the need to carefully nurture our relationship with Nature.

The UP CIDS Program on Alternative Development (AltDev) aims to look at paradigms, policies, practices, and projects that are largely marginalized and excluded from the mainstream. As they challenge dominant modes, they do not figure prominently in the national and international discourse.
#TINIGMaralitaThis project is an advocacy and action research, which amplifies the fundamental relationship between civic space and economic livelihoods of the urban poor. The collaboration seeks to scale up community meetings, training on human rights and grassroots dialogues with various government agencies that can help the urban poor push back against the shrinking civic space and reclaim their access to livelihood spaces in the city.
Creative Dignity is a movement that has brought together over 500 diverse creative producers, Creative Dignity is a movement that has brought together over 500 diverse creative producers, small enterprises, civil society organisations, and professionals to energise the ecosystem that Indian artisans need in this time of COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 impact. Their focus is to provide Relief, and subsequently work on Rehabilitation and Rejuvenation of the artisans in a bid to ensure their sustained prosperity.
Turismo Kosteira Vatuvou in East Timor is aiming to pave a new path for communities to have more agency in tourism while maintaining and preserving traditional culture. This ecotourism model gives agency to the community and allows them to reap the benefits without encroaching on their land and disturbing their culture. This diversified livelihood also works on preserving the coastal ecosystem and all of its inhabitants.
